Synastry aspects

Synastry compares two people's birth charts, and a contact is a planet in one chart at an angle to a planet in the other. These are what the older sources hold the main contacts to mean, pair by pair, each traced to a work and a page you can open for free. Where there is a longer piece on a single aspect, it is linked below its reading.

Sun and Moon

Conjunction

Who one of you is and how the other feels line up exactly: the strongest kind of sympathy two people can share.

Trine or sextile

Your two natures sit in easy accord: a natural sympathy that friendship tends to follow.

How to read these

The older sources speak of contacts in families: a conjunction; a trine or sextile; a square or opposition. They do not tell a trine from a sextile, or a square from an opposition, so each reading here covers the whole family. Where a longer piece draws that distinction, it says so and says that the distinction is this site's reading.

A contact has a direction, one person's planet to the other's, but these readings are written for both people, and for any two people: friends, family and colleagues as much as partners. None of it is a verdict. One contact never describes a whole relationship, and astrology is a tradition of interpretation rather than a body of established fact.

Which of these you two have

The synastry page draws both charts on one wheel and lists every contact between them, from each person's date, time and place of birth. Nothing is transmitted; it is calculated on your own device.
